Looking to purify your water supply? Then look to the pros…Whywait Plumbing. The only licensed Green Gold Coast plumber.
Now that recycled water is being added to our drinking water supplies, simple cartridge filters are no longer good enough to protect the water that we drink and shower in.
The Importance of Pure Water in Our Everyday Lives
Once we understand that the body is more than 70% water and that water controls virtually every aspect of our health, we can begin to understand its true importance. Not just the water we drink, but the water that we shower in...cook with... prepare juices, teas and coffee with. It all has a significant impact on our health. Water is the foundation of the body, and, like any structure, if the foundation is of poor quality, strength and longevity will not be achieved.
Receycled Water Supplies
After 1 February 2009 legislation allows for recycled waste water to be introduced into potable drinking supplies in South-East Queensland once the combined Brisbane dam levels drop below 40%. Many eminent scientists have spoken out about this as have ordinary Queenslanders but the Queensland Government is adamant that it is safe and that it will be introduced into our dams should the need arise.
According to one of Australia’s leading infectious disease experts: “the technology does not exist to prevent recycled sewage from contaminating the water supply of 2.6 million residents in southeast Queensland.”
Ultimately it appears residents of South-East Queensland could become the first Australians to drink their own waste water with between 10-25% of the water supply being recycled waste water.
While government officials insist the problem is under control, several known water experts – including a University of Queensland vice-chancellor, Paul Greenfield, who heads an expert government advisory panel on recycled water – says “it is not possible to guarantee the safety of recycled water.”
Bottled water is not a solution it is a problem
About 40 percent of bottled water is regular tap water.
Australians spend over $500 million every year buying bottled water. Potable drinking water from Allconnex Water costs around $2.68 a kilolitre. Bottled water here is 1120 times more expensive than the water Allconnex Water pipes directly to your home. Australian bottled water costs around $3000 a kilolitre and Italian bottled water around $9000 a kilolitre.
Bottled water is more expensive than petrol — if you could turn petrol into water you could make money. In fact our love affair with bottled water is costing the planet 314,000 barrels of oil a year. That's how much of one of the world's most precious resources it takes to package, ship and refrigerate a product that is already piped to every single suburban premises for next to nothing.

And if the thought of paying a premium for something you already have on tap isn’t disturbing enough, you should know that while the Queensland Government requires a rigorous contaminant testing schedule for Allconnex Water, the requirements for private bottlers are considerably less demanding. While Allconnex Water must test for contaminants up to several times a day, private bottlers need only test for contaminants once a week, once a year, or once every four years, depending on the contaminant.
Contaminants testing on over a hundred different bottled waters have turned up chemicals like arsenic and carcinogenic compounds, fluoride (a dangerous bone poison), the toxic metal antimony, disinfection by products like THMs, and pharmaceutical drugs.
Adding insult to injury, the chemicals that leach out of bottled water’s plastic packaging are also highly toxic. Last but not least – our rubbish landfills are overflowing with plastic bottles that do not biodegrade with only 35 per cent of water bottles being recycled, and 55 per cent going to landfill.
… to your health, and the health of our planet. It’s time for each of us to exercise our purchase power and every available option to reduce and ultimately eliminate exposure to this deadly chemical and its toxic byproducts. You and your children’s future depends on it.
De-Chlorinating Your Water
Chlorinated Water. It's Great in Your Pool. But Not in Your Stomach. |
|
There’s Chlorine in the Water Distribution Pipe Lines…Here’s Why.
Chlorine is a necessity in your swimming pool to eliminate bacteria and the potential for harmful side effects.
You may not enjoy the odour or the stinging in your eyes, but you wouldn’t want to swim without it.
Ingesting chlorine is a whole different matter. But that’s exactly what you’re doing. You see, Allconnex Water potable water-distribution pipe line systems contain bacteria-killing chlorine. The intent is simply to provide you with bacteria-free water.
Unfortunately, they’re doing more than that.
The Harmful Effects of Chlorine.
Every time you consume tap water from the Allconnex Water distribution system you are ingesting a measure of chlorine. Every time you shower or bathe in tap water you are ingesting the free chlorine gas in the water supply. The telltale signs of unacceptably high levels of chlorine? Dry flaky skin, and the odour you often detect in your shower, bath, or drinking water.
Chlorine does not kill all the bacteria in the water supply pipelines as scale still builds up inside the pipes requiring the council to regularly clean them.
Far worse, chlorine is a chemical and a poison. Once ingested, it randomly targets what it kills off in your body. Simply put, chlorine kills all bacteria…good and bad. It can kill off the natural flora in your stomach. It can negatively affect your digestion. It can build up in fat deposits. It can settle in your arteries and lead to heart disease. What’s more, chlorine can cause bladder cancer.
Bottom line, the human body is not designed to filter out chlorine. And yet for the foreseeable future, it will remain in the Allconnex Water potable water distribution pipe line systems. |

At Whywait Plumbing Services, we recommend and install Aqusana Water filtration systems above all others. It’s the number one rated water filtration company in Australia.
They offer a complete line of whole-house and single-source systems, the latter including: under the counter, countertop and a shower filter with massage.
Unlike most other water filtration products, Aquasana products were not designed to simply meet minimum government or industry standards that allow “trace levels” of toxic chemicals in tap and bottled water. They were designed to exceed these standards. Bottom line, Aquasana products produce chemical-free water…and it doesn’t get any better than that.
Good for You, Good for the Environment
Aquasana is also good for the environment. As a logical (and cheaper) alternative to bottled water, a single filter can prevent thousands of plastic containers from ending up in landfills and further polluting our environment.
